Project Requirements
The Locarno is an upscale apartment complex located along Brush Creek in Kansas City. Offering luxury units in six historic buildings, The Locarno needed tuckpointing to restore the exterior façade. During the tuckpointing process, old mortar is removed from the joints and replaced with new mortar to avoid damage and improve the overall look. Located on a steep hillside, this project required a solution that could provide safe and easy access on an incline. It was also necessary to keep garage doors and a docking door accessible and allow hundreds of residents to enter and exit the building during the restoration.
Tuckpointing with PowerMast
When KC Scaffold was approached by the contractor with the requirements of this application, they knew the ReechCraft PowerMast was the ideal solution. They installed our twin PowerMast system on top of traditional scaffolding to allow access to the loading dock at all times during the project. With maximum working heights up to 200 feet, the PowerMast allowed workers to access these 10-story buildings with ease. The platform on the twin system easily spanned the width of the building to maximize work efficiency, and thanks to its modular design, the PowerMast was quick to install even with the access limitations. Finally, the PowerMast offered a highly aesthetic solution, while traditional scaffolding all the way up would detract from the building’s exterior appearance and block views from the inside.
